VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers on the Church Library Committee employ a variety of gifts and skills. Following is a list of position titles and descriptions of current opportunities. For a fuller identification of all the skills needed and possible schedules, stop by the library and talk to one of the volunteers on duty.

Library Coordinator (need 1) Supervises work of the library; plans the budger; prepares reports; maintains statistics and web pages; coordinates work of volunteers; meets with church leaders to coordinate efforts.

Acquisitions and Cataloging Librarian (need 1) Selects, buys, and catalogs library material; adds electronic records to the cataloging database; prepares bookplates; tracks supply needs; trains other volunteers.

Acquisitions Assistant (need 2) Helps identify new materials needed for the library; evaluates gift material; recommends titles for withdrawal and completes withdrawal procedures.

Cataloging Assistant (need 2) Enters and edits electronic cataloging records to the cataloging database; downloads cotaloging records via the Internet; works both with newly aquired material and existing holdings.

Cataloging Processor (need 2) Processes newly cataloged material by adding pockets, book cards, spine labels, ownership stamps, and book jackets.

Circulation Assistant (need 4) Serves on rotating schedule during hours library is open; assists users in finding needed material; assists in checking in/out library materials; reshelves materials in proper location; records circulation statistics; sends overdue notices; reads shelves for accuracy.

Junior Committee Member (need 2) Learns library skills and actively participates in recommending books, magazines, and media; shelves material; maintains good shelf order for books and media; checks material in and out.

Library Book Repairer (need 1) Makes minor repairs to books and keeps library books in good condition.

Library Children's Section Worker (need 1) Plans and promotes reading programs for children; recommends books, media, and magazines for children.

Library Juvenile Section Worker (need 1) Plans and promotes reading programs for juveniles; recommends books, media, and magazines for juveniles.

Library Promotion Assistant (need 2) Designs and installs displays in library windows to stiumulate use of the library; takes library material to group meeting to promote use of books and media.
