| At
Second Baptist Church of Memphis, we are committed
to honoring Christ by building unity while embracing
diversity and by ministering to the world around
us. Second Baptist members do so by worshipping
together, studying the scriptures, praying together,
and involvement in hands-on missions. Men and
women serve as equal partners in all our ministries.
At any time you may find our members providing
short-term shelter to the homeless, building
a Habitat for Humanity house, providing medical
care to the sick in Honduras, tutoring children
or engaging in a number of other helping ministries.
We are known as a "moderate" congregation,
but there is nothing moderate about our commitment
to worship and serve God. If you visit with us,
don't be surprised to hear a woman deacon leading
a prayer in the worship service or to see a man
with an apron tied around his waist serving up
delicious food at Wednesday Fellowship Dinners.
At Second, we believe what the Apostle Paul wrote: "In
Christ there is neither male or female, Jew or
Greek, free or slave."
If you think you might like
to learn more about this church, we would enjoy
dialoguing with you. Please contact
us. Or visit Second
Baptist during any of our regularly scheduled meeting
times.
