Music is an important part of
the life of Second Baptist. The purpose of
the Music Ministry is to train and to lead
in worship services of the church; to develop,
provide, and use the music leadership of the
church in each organization; and to afford
an additional avenue for the proclamation of
the Gospel on a spiritual and cultural level.
Guided opportunities for music ministry, listed
below are provided for all ages and ranges
of talent.

Preschool
Choir (4 and 5 year olds)
Singing, rhythmic activity and movement to
music help the children develop expressive
abilities as they respond to God and to
others.
Young Musicians
(grades 1-5)
Worship, hymn and composer studies, as
well as music reading and choral musicianship
combine to form the curriculum for this
choir.
Youth Choir (grades
6-12)
The youth choir is a performance group presenting
the Hanging of the Green at Christmas as well
as The Service Of Nails during Holy Week.
Adult Choir (ages 18 and up)
This is the worship choir for our traditional
service and for special seasonal
concerts, as well as secular and patriotic
programs.
Worship Team
(all ages)
This team is composed of vocalists and instrumentalists,
and provides special music on occasion in the
morning worship service.
Grove Ringers
At Second you may ring your praise as well as
sing it. Our church has a beautiful four-octave
set of Schulmerich handbells. The Ringers perform
in our worship services, and also participate
in regional handbell festivals.
