Opportunities at Second Baptist Church
We
are active in ministry and missions both
personally and financially. The heritage and
spirit of missions is so alive and inherent
in our fellowship that it is impossible to
list them all. The following list includes
some of the ministries our people are involved
in. We invite you to join us by emailing the

Adult
Home Ministry (Howard
Prince)
Second
Baptist works to support developmentally disabled
adults and senior adults by providing housing
and nursing assistance.
Because It's Right (Don
Smith)
A
community-wide organization dedicated to multicultural
reconciliation
Brinkley Heights (Susie
McCandless)
Provides
a variety of services to inner city, low-income
families. Services include tutoring, food pantry,
clothes closet, and spiritual counseling.
Children's Home
The
Baptist Children's Home in Memphis is supported financially and with donations of living
essentials from Second Baptist Church.
Department of Corrections (Bill
O'Rork)
Second
Baptist has supported personal ministry at
the local prisons in Memphis for many years.
There is a chapel service every Tuesday
night. The highlight of the year is the annual
revival. Learn more about the prison ministry.
Habitat for Humanity (Bart
Harris)
Habitat
for Humanity is an international organization,
which helps low income working families to
experience home ownership. Second Baptist has
led in the building of ten homes in Memphis.

Lifeblood
(Andrew
Smith)
Give the gift of life. Your donated blood is
used for transfusion purposes at all area hospitals.
The bloodmobile visits our church regularly.

Medical Missions (David
McCandless)
A
medical/dental mission trip to Honduras sponsored
biannually by Second Baptist.
Memphis Interfaith
Hospitality Network (Frank
Huffman)
Memphis Interfaith Hospitality Network (MIHN)
provides shelter, food, and housing and job search
assistance
to families with no place to live. Homeless
families stay at Second Baptist three or four
weeks a year.
Missionary House

Second Baptist's missionary house is on the
property and has provided housing at minimal
costs for missionaries and other Christian workers
from around the world, especially during their
furlough period.
Multinational Ministries
Center (James
Kellum)
The
Multinational Ministries Center ministers primarily
to immigrant families to Memphis, especially
from Asian countries. Their focus is on child
services.
Piece Makers (Gwen
Sears or Pat
Donhardt)
Interested
in quilting? Help make quilts for delivery
to Afghan children by Christ
Community Health Services Medical Mission Team.
Piece Makers meet in the Crafts Room on Mondays
6:00 - 8:00 pm.
River City Outreach

A "home town" mission project where
the Second Baptist youth put God's love into
action by reaching out to the people in Memphis
and the surrounding area.
Unreached People
(Janet
Sessums)
Second Baptist has adopted "Unreached People
Groups" in India and Vietnam to focus our
worldwide missions.
Way of the Cross (Wayne
Randolph)
An outdoor Easter Drama depicting the last week
in the life of Christ. It requires many volunteer
hours building sets and backdrops for each scene.
Costumes must be prepared and make-up with wigs
and beards for many of the over 150 cast members.
This Easter Drama is next planned for 2006.
